Back to the future

PHOTO
The new promenade at Cleveleys, Lancashire, manages to be both futuristic and retro (1930s-ish). Consequently, I thought this split-toning (sepia/blue) effect applied to a black and white conversion would be a suitable finish, suggesting the posters of the past and the brave new world to come.

Good to see you've got another blog going Tony so we can get our daily Olympus piccy. Out of those you've posted so far this has got to be the best!!! It's a brilliant image but the processing takes it up another level. Very professional.

Thanks James. I prepared colour and black and white versions of this shot, and they were OK. Then I remembered that I wanted to try split-toning, and applied a blue/sepia split to a high contrast black and white version. I think the high contrast and the suitability of the subject for the treatment made it work for me.

Thanks Anon. I liked the comment that someone made elsewhere about this shot - "Please Park All Spacecraft to the Left......Thank You". It has that futuristic feel doesn't it :-)
